LETTERS TO THE CAMP DIRECTOR
It’s ok – we've all been there. You are not going to be that crazy parent -- but then, alas, you are. Worst of all, you are that crazy parent that INSISTS that they are not a crazy parent. Sound familiar? Goes a little something like this:
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Camps looks like it's off to a great start! We are so excited we picked Camp Blah blah blah – and are excited for Jenna to gain skills and independence at her new summer home!
I know you guys run the absolute best camp. I’m usually not like this, BUT I can't help but notice that in the pictures of the kids arriving off the buses, Jenna was trailing behind the other girls...?? Is she ok? Did something happen?
I only ask because she had stubbed her toe this morning before we left the house, and I just want to make sure she's ok!! NO big deal either way – I’m not going to be that crazy parent, and I know you've got a lot on your plate!!! Hope to NOT talk to you soon!
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Camp looks to be in full swing! Hope everyone is having a blast. I don’t want to bother you, but we got an email from Jenna last night, and she mentioned that the bunk bed is sort of far from the bathrooms, and I feel like we definitely requested a bed close to the bathroom. What happened there??
I know you're busy, but if you could move her, and all her stuff including the six extra plastic drawers we just sent up, that would be great. Thanks so much!
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Look, I don't want to be a pest. I would never reach out unnecessarily -- BUT I have noticed that Jenna hasn’t been in a picture in 4 days!!! I see lots of the other kids in her division, at cook-out or at swim, having a great time. What gives? I'm sure it’s nothing, but if you could give the photographer a nudge, that’d be great!
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Excited to see you next week --- how is it Visiting Day already?! Just got a letter from Jenna telling us about her trip to Stowe! Sounds like it was awesome. Jenna said she was with "bad" people though on the hike, and that all her friends were in "good" groups. Hmmm… is there something we should know? We are here and always happy to pop on the phone for a few minutes
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Visiting day was AMAZING! The bunks were immaculate, and the waterfront is gorgeous! As an aside, we happened to notice that a bunch of the other kids had received awards for sports and stuff -- but we didn’t see that Jenna had won any?? So weird because she's, like, an excellent tennis player and swimmer, and on both of her very competitive school teams.
How many more awards are given? I'm assuming every camper gets one by the time summer's over, because that would be fair and we all paid the same tuition. Not that I know how to run a camp-- but just thought I'd check!
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Team Sing looked amazing! What an incredible tradition. The girls will be singing all year! Quick thought: I couldn’t help but notice that the girls are supposed to line up in height order – but, like, I couldn’t see Jenna AT ALL because she was in the back row! Did she have a sudden growth spurt?! She looked the same on visiting day, so I just thought I'd check.
I looked again, and it's hard to tell, but it most definitely looks like there are taller kids in front of her. Let me know please. I'm not one of those crazy parents, trust me, but if my kid was put in the back row, just curious as to why?!!
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Jenna's dad here. We are in Italy so the reception is spotty and it's hard to pore over the pictures like usual -- but -- my wife is asking: is that IMPETIGO?? Something on the back of Jenna's leg does NOT look right and I'd really appreciate it if you could get that checked out ASAP. If it's just the rose talking, I apologize. Ciao!
Dear Shelly and Stan,
Thank you for a perfect summer! Jenna has grown SO much and seems like a different person. We are already excited for next year! Again, thank you so much. Camp is now our daughter’s “happy place!” Let us know about the pickleballs courts for next year, and when you start taking bunk requests!
